Fall Family Portraits at Webster Park

Family standing together under the trees at Webster Park during a fall morning session.

This fall, I photographed the Parlato family at Webster Park during an October morning filled with early autumn color. The park’s open spaces, wooded trails, lake views, and winding creeks create a natural backdrop that’s fitting for posed portraits and playful candids.

A Season of Change and Connection

Our first spot was an open field where soft morning light filtered through the trees, and the grass framed the family beautifully. Between the posed portraits came bursts of play — piggyback rides, swinging competitions, and dance breaks that brought out real laughter. Later, by the rocky creek, the kids explored and tossed small stones, giving us candid moments full of personality and joy.

The heart of this session was simple: to capture the family as they are right now. The kids are growing fast, and their parents wanted photographs that show their energy and tenderness at this age. As we moved through each spot, it was easy to see how connected they are. Small handholds, quick smiles, and little bursts of laughter said more than words ever could. Those are the moments that stay with me long after the session ends.

Why Fall is Perfect for Family Portraits

There’s a reason fall is one of the most popular seasons for portraits in upstate New York. The combination of color, texture, and soft light makes it ideal for natural, timeless portraits. Cooler temperatures and vibrant foliage create a relaxed, inviting setting where families can enjoy being outdoors and fully present with one another. If you’ve been thinking about updating your family portraits, fall is the perfect time.

A Favorite Location: Webster Park

Nestled along Lake Ontario, Webster Park is one of my favorite places for family sessions. Its meadows, wooded paths, and winding creeks offer endless variety — from open, sunlit portraits to quiet, candid moments nestled between the trees. Every session here feels a little different, shaped by the season, the light, and the people I’m photographing.

Sessions like this remind me how meaningful it can be to slow down, explore, and celebrate family. I’m grateful to the Parlato family for sharing these special moments with me.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family portraits, I’d love to help you plan a session that feels relaxed, genuine, and true to you. Let’s capture the moments that matter most — the laughter, the connection, and everything in between.
