Jamie and Aaric’s Engagement Session at Highland Park
Highland Park is one of the best locations in Rochester for engagement portraits, especially in the fall. Before the session, I walked the park to choose areas with good color, clean lines, and soft light so we could move through the morning with a clear plan. The park offers a lot of variety within a small area, so sessions stay comfortable and efficient.
Jamie and Aaric were easy to photograph and settled into the session naturally. Most of what we did involved simple prompts and natural movement, with a few adjustments to keep the light and background working in our favor. Their dog, Tater, joined for part of the morning and added a few spontaneous moments along the way.
We moved through several spots in the park that offered different looks while still feeling connected. Tree lines, open paths, and pockets of fall color gave us options for wider scenes and closer portraits without needing to rush or cover long distances. Each location added a distinct backdrop and variety to the gallery.
Highland Park is a perfect fit for couples who want portraits that feel natural and easy. The park has enough variety to create different looks in a short distance, and its layout makes it simple to work without overthinking locations. It supports a session that stays steady and comfortable, which often leads to expressions that feel more genuine.
Jamie and Aaric brought a steady, easy presence to the morning, and their final gallery reflects that. The images offer a warm, straightforward look at this special time in their lives.
