Why I love it: Greece Canal Park pairs the Erie Canal towpath with wide-open lawns, lodge gardens, and quiet wooded stretches, so you get canal-and-bridge charm without the crowds of the Rochester canal spots downtown. It's an easy, low-key location that still gives you real variety — open grass for family groups, towpath for a walking engagement session, and small bridges for a classic vertical portrait.

Best for: Families, couples, pets, casual portraits.

Light & timing: The towpath's tree cover gives soft, filtered light most of the day; the open lawn near the lodges works well in late afternoon. Spring brings lush green and new leaf-out; fall color along the towpath is reliable and uncrowded.

Logistics: Main entrance and parking at 241 Elmgrove Road, with additional lots near the lodges. Four trails, all under a mile and mostly level. Restrooms near the Millennium Lodge and Towpath Shelter, open seasonally May through October.

Accessibility: Level, mostly flat terrain with paved and gravel path sections — one of the easier locations in the guide for limited mobility or a stroller.

Pro tip: The canal itself is drained for winter maintenance (roughly mid-November through April), so towpath shots with actual water in the canal only work May–October. Plan accordingly if the canal backdrop matters to the shot.
